We Are A Traditional Club

Meetings are approximately one hour in length, which includes a meal, meeting, and/ or short program.  Members take turns providing the meal, with the club providing catered meals for special occasions, such as our Scholarship Dinner, Club Officer Installation, and Founder's Day Banquet. An active member pays membership fees and dues, and may hold elected office in a club, a district, or International level.  At club meetings Civitans hear from community, business and government leaders who provide informative and entertaining programs on the issues that affect Civitans and their families the most.

On an international level, Civitan has grown to over 40,000 members in 27 countries, including youth and college programs. Civitan is devoted to improving the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Civitans' flagship program is the UAB Civitan International Research Center, the first institution of its kind in the United States to be solely dedicated to research of developmental disabilities.

Meeting Location

The Depot in Winterville, GA

We meet the second & fourth Thursday of every month at 7 pm, at The Depot located on Parkview Rd. & Marigold Lane.  Be our guest the first time and enjoy a free meal!

Become a Member

Membership in Civitan is open to anyone who is at least 18 years old and of good character. Every Civitan should understand and appreciate the mission of Civitan International and strive to promote the three principle goals of fellowship with one another, knowledge about the community at large, and service to humanity.

Members participate in a variety of fund-raising and service projects. Civitan realizes the importance of offering its members opportunities for personal and professional development, as well as the opportunity to meet new friends and develop long-lasting friendships with people who share similar interests.

Cost (Initiation Fees and Dues) -- It costs little to join Civitan. Each person must pay fee of $35 a quarter. Each quarter the club treasurer bills members for quarterly dues. These dues are based upon what the club board of directors and members have agreed upon. The fees and dues cover the one-time initiation fee of $15 to Civitan International, $13 quarterly fee to international, and the meal charge.

 Civitan Creed:

I AM CIVITAN: as old as life, as young as the rainbow, as endless as time.

MY HANDS do the work of the world and reach out in service to others.

MY EARS hear the cry of children and the call throughout the world for peace, guidance, progress and unity.

MY EYES search for others to join in the fellowship and service of Civitan.

MY MOUTH utters the call to daily duty and speaks prayers in every tongue.

MY MIND teaches me respect for law and the flag of my country.

MY HEART beats for every friend, bleeds for every injury to humanity and throbs with joy at every triumph of truth.

MY SOUL knows no fear but its own unworthiness.

MY HOPE is for a better world through Civitan.

MY MOTTO: builders of good citizenship.

MY BELIEF: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

MY PLEDGE: to practice the Golden Rule and to build upon it a better and nobler citizenship
